Research Task - Analysing a Featured Article

Engaging the reader instantly, the headline across the top of the article page is written with statistics (so as to interact with people's desire to learn more and receive information) that are hi-lighted with a red colour, done to allow people to quickly notice that information is there to be consumed. The headline trails off with the phrase "1 big ball-sack" which introduces people to the article and people will want to read more to work out what the headline means. In addition, the headline is styled differently to the rest of the page and is paired with a contrasting white background which grabs the viewer's attention effectively.

Ambiguous meaning in the introduction is used to give the audience a taste of what's to come but not to provide a full summary of the rest of the article so as to sustain a continued interest in the article, making sure the new information will always be offered later on in little trickles of text. Starting immediately in the thick of the article, "have you guys ever played the balls game?", more questions than answers are raised and readers are given incentive to continue.

Offensive and vulgar language is used so as to create a rebellious and 'underground' representation of the artists and allows the commonly teenage audience to relate with the artists being interviewed as the challenging nature of what they say is what is attractive to them.

Supplemented by images of them in dressing rooms, preparing for performances and generally being 'unsavoury individuals', the pictures provide privileged information into their lives and people will want to continue reading  to work out the context of the images.
